PRESS RELEASE: CFM Doubles Reward for Elk Poacher Conviction

elk 2Poaching is an atrocious act that steals from each and every Missourian. Donate to the reward fund and help catch the poacher who committed this horrible crime against wildlife

Jefferson City, Mo | December 31, 2015 – The Conservation Federation of Missouri is determined to see the individual responsible for poaching a bull elk in the Ozarks brought to justice. To entice anyone with information to come forward, CFM is matching the $1,000 currently offered by Operation Game Thief with an additional $1,000. This brings the current total reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the poacher to $2,000.

All information is completely anonymous and should be submitted to the Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-392-1111 or call your local conservation agent.

“The elk restoration of the Missouri Ozarks is a monumental conservation undertaking in our state. These majestic creatures are held in public trust, belonging to each and every Missourian. The senseless and despicable killing of this bull for only the sake of its antlers, is an assault on everyone who appreciates wildlife. CFM is determined to see the person or persons responsible for this horrible crime brought to justice,” said Brandon Butler, Executive Director of the Conservation Federation.

If you would like to see the reward value increase, CFM is accepting donations from conservation organizations and private citizens for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Your donation will make a difference, as 100 percent of the money collected will go to the reward fund. You may mail your donations to the CFM office or make a donation online. Please indicate the donation is for the “Elk Poaching Reward” in the ‘Donation For’ box when donating online.
