Everyone can help with Share the Harvest. Individuals that wish to donate to Share the Harvest can do so through our website or by contacting the Conservation Federation at (573)634-2322. ![]() Missouri Share the Harvest Hunters who want to participate simply take their deer to an approved processor and tell them how much venison they wish to donate. The processor will package and store the meat for pick up by a local sponsoring agency. The agency then delivers the venison to local organizations for distribution to the needy. The Conservation Federation of Missouri will reimburse the processor $60 for each whole deer donated through Share the Harvest. However, hunters who donate part of their deer should expect to pay the processing fee. To receive the $60 reduction in processing cost the hunter simply signs a form at the processor's place of business certifying that he/she is donating an entire deer. In some instances, additional local funds may be available to further reduce the processing cost to the hunter. Charitable Organizations are vital to this project. You can get involved as a member of almost any club or organization. They provide promotion and manpower on a local level to a program that addresses the needy in their area. In addition many local groups provide additional funding to augment the moneys paid by the Conservation Federation on the donation of whole deer. Raising local funds greatly increases hunter participation and therefore meat donations. For more information contact the Missouri Department of Conservation. Meat Processors that are knowledgeable, and enthusiastic are a vital key to a successful program. Many times the coordinating organization will take an active role in promoting the program. Having volunteers available at deer processing plants during the firearms deer season to personally contact hunters, hand out literature and answer questions about the program will greatly increase donations. For more information contact the Missouri Department of Conservation. For each $60.00 you donate you provide for the procession of 1 deer. |
